LUCENA CITY, Philippines—A truck loaded with copra from Bicol was hijacked along the Maharlika Highway in Atimonan, Quezon early Wednesday, police said.

Report issued by the Quezon provincial police office said an Isuzu cargo truck (PEB-236) driven by one Nestor Quintali was traversing the village of Malinao Ilaya at around 1:00 a.m. when three unidentified men armed with short firearms flagged down the vehicle.

The assailants commandeered the truck then blindfolded and hogtied the driver and his helper, police said.

A few hours later, the victims and the emptied truck were found abandoned in the roadside village of Palsabangon in the nearby town of Pagbilao.

The truck was loaded with an estimated 25 tons of copra, police said.
